radio/intercom issues (HELP)

hello all,

I have an 03 LTE. At the end of last season (I don't ride in the snow), my intercom system starting acting up, working only with my wife's headset but not mine, and not all the time. Sometimes they would both work. Figured it was my headset. Now, I left my bike on a tender all winter and this spring, the first time I took it out, my intercom worked but my radio did not. It has power b/c the dash/stingray is lit up but nothing. No display, no static, nothing. This weekend we went for a ride and the intercom worked for about 5 minutes then quit. My wife could talk to me, and her vox worked but my did nothing, even with the PTT button, and I can hear her fine, she does not here me. I also noticed my shift indicator on the dash is also acting up. I am confused.. I looked over what I know how to, fuses, power, etc... but now am at a loss. Thanks in advance.. Wes

Re: radio/intercom issues (HELP)

Try the disconnecting the battery for an hour or so and reconnect. It has fixed radio issues in the past. Even though the battery is on the tender if it is old it could be an issues. JM2CW.

As for the intercom issues, plug and unplug ALL the connections several times to remove any corrosion that might be there.

Re: radio/intercom issues (HELP)

thanks Steve. the battery was new as of May last year, so I would hope it's not the issue. However tonight I will disconnect and try it out. If not, I guess I will be pulling off the tupperwear... yippie, been there, what a pain... any other suggestions???

On the headset issue I might have some help: If you have J&M headsets with the lower cords, check where the coiled cord meets the part that plugs into the bike. My wife's had become intermittent and I found it to be cracked. A new J&M lower cord fixed the problem.

Re: radio/intercom issues (HELP)

Swap the helmets and cords from front to back to eliminate the headsets and cords. I suspect a cord problem with the intercom.

As for the radio...disconnecting the battery as already suggested works often. If you have " No Radio" in the display it would probable actually be the radio.

Ron

Re: radio/intercom issues (HELP)

Well I disconnected the battery for over an hour and the radio now works... What a relief.. Thanks for that, honestly wow.. Why would that work, guess it's got a computer, needs reset.. I will check for the crack in the lower cord. It is intermittent, so we'll see. Thanks everyone.
