When Integral Brakes?

I am considering purchase of a 2003 K1200 LT, I know the integral brakes came out around 2001, were they standard on all 2003 K 1200 LT bikes, if so what year did that start? Thanks much!

My 99 LT did not have linked braked, but my 03 (built in 02) did. I would guess either 01 or 02 for the changeover.

I do believe Steve has got it here! My 2000 LT does not have the linked brakes.

Don't start hard fast rules here Steve. My 2001 does not have linked brakes it has ABS II brakes. Build date is Oct 2000. I think the cutover year was 2001 with some bikes having ABS II and others with linked.

But I would say that there were only linked brakes from 2002 on.

Re: When Integral Brakes?

Don't confuse build dates with model years.

The Integral ABS (don't call them linked) started on the '01 model year LT's in Europe. The same bikes sold in the US were designated '02 model years, because us Americans always have to have the latest and greatest everything, and we'll pay more for it that way.

For example, my '02 LT was built in 01/2001, but sold new in 12/2002, so it was 2 years old with 0 miles on it. Yes, I got a heck of a deal.

Re: When Integral Brakes?

My 2001 doesn't have integral brakes, build date was Sep or Oct 00. Not sure that I would like to have them either. Had them on my Yamaha Venture and had no problems, but of course, didn't have ABS on that either!

My bike was built (according to the VIN) Dec 2000, and was registered in 2001. It has Integral brakes.
