Question '09 vs '06?

It looks like I'm set to replace my '01. I'm looking at an '09 and an '06. The '06 has more miles, but also has a transferable extended warranty, Ohlins and a few other things I want on it. Doing an apples-to-apples comparison, the '06 is a better deal by about $1,000.

My question, for those of you on late model LTs is, is there any substantail differences that might make one better than the other? Did they dump the linked brakes for the '09 model year and, if so, is that that big of a deal?

TIA

George

Re: '09 vs '06?

I have an '06... Nice ride... I don't think the '09 has the comm system included. My '06 has the VII and the Vii is a bit of a handful, but it does work for what i need it for. I don't think BMW dumped the linked brakes for '09 either. Besides, I really like the linked brakes. Thot I wouldn't get used to it... Now I'm sold on them for braking power for the type of riding we do.

Other than that, the list of farkles on the '06 may make it a way better deal... i.e.
  • Custom seat
  • J-pegs
  • Driving/riding lights i.e. PIAA's
  • Driving/riding lights i.e. caliper mount
  • Driver's peg lowering kit
  • Grip puppies

Short of low miles on the '09, I can't think of a reason not to do the '06...

... my $.02...
