Problem With One Electric Circuit

While riding my 2005 LT last weekend, I lost power to the radio, the auxiliary dashboard light and the rear power outlet located on the topcase.

The shop manual says that all three items are controlled by the same 15A fuse, fuse number 4 on the right side fuse box. I pulled the old fuse, it looked okay, and replaced it with a new one. The circuit remains dead.

I'm not adept in solving electric problems, so I'm asking for advice about how to track down this problem.

Thanks!

Mike

Try fuse F1 also a 15 amp. That fuse is also for the windshield. That is what the BMW schematics show. It is in box one. There was an update issued by BMW for the owners manual on fuse locations.

Re: Problem With One Electric Circuit

jzeiler -

Thanks for the suggestion. I pulled the 15A fuse located in slot 1 in box 1. It looked okay but I replaced it anyhow. No change. The radio, rear power plug and dash light remain dead.

Re: Problem With One Electric Circuit

However....when I pulled fuse #4 in fuse box#1, that 7.5A fuse was blown. After replacement, the failed circuit now works.

Thanks for your help. Sure would be nice if the wiring matched the actual diagram in the owners manual and service manual.

My Bad, The diagram was correct. The person that looked at it was all messed up. I have been on TDY for the last 3 weeks and have had some very long days. I only get to look at the site once a day - usually late at night.
