how do you get the trip reset button off

I want to change the instrument cluster cover and was wondering if there is a trick to the trip reset button or the clock buttons.

They come off with the clear plastic if my memory is correct. Be very careful of the plastic inserts inside the buttons as they are very easy to lose.

Re: how do you get the trip reset button off

Just in case anyone ever wants to change the instrument cover the top of the trip reset button screws off. I tried pulling it hard enough that I knew that wasn't how it was supposed to work. I then started spinning it and it didn't really feel like it was extending any so I spun it a little faster and it took off across the floor. At least it didn't fall into the tupperware. What there was left of it when I got to the instrument cluster. I am a happier LT rider now that I can see the instruments though. Now I need one of those fancy covers that throw shade across them in the sun.
