Oil Change Help

First time to try this myself. I'm sure there ar many posts, but can you offer some guidance? I bought my 2003 LT with 23,000 miles in january 2008 and the bike had been serviced by my dealer. I put about 4,000 miles last season. It has been stored in my garage with the battery tender all winter. Figured I should do an oil change and i live a ways from my dealer and want to sve the hassle and money of getting to him. Thanks for the help.

I just did the 24K service on mine and have done three (3) oil and filter changes prior.
I like the Amsoil brand in the 20/50. I have tried both BMW and K&N filters, cost is the difference as far as I am concerned.
Get your o-ring and crush washer for the drain plug from the dealership. I don't remove the drain plug, I just start cracking open the three allen heads on the oil filter access plate and let the oil drain that way. Either way, your hands are going to get some oil on them.
Put some plastic down under the are to keep it off the floor.

Re: Oil Change Help

There are a lot of us that use Beemer Boneyard for filters and other parts. I get the 6 pack of oil filters and keep them on hand. Also the 24K Kit will save you money. Get your oil from Walmart or any discount store as long as you use a "Name Brand" your fine. With the LINK Dave posted you will have it done in no time.
BTW Get some "Puppy" pee training pads and put down to soak up any spills

That is about a $60.00 savings from what I spent on my parts at the local dealership. I took back the air-filter because I found that I had a K&N which is cleaned and then re-used.

+1 on Beemer Boneyard. EVERY time I place an order, I get order confirmation, and UPS tracking number within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. I like it when people are sitting around, just waiting for me to order!

Seriously, great service!

Re: Oil Change Help

Hollywood,

How do you like the Autocom Super Pro AVi? I have an older unit?? and volume on intercom seems a bit weak.
Is there a volume adjustment?

Thanks,

Bruce
