Where does this wire go?

I had the tank off for maintenance and can't find the other end of this plug.

Re: Where does this wire go?

Isn't that for the seat heat...........riders side I think...............or am I tanked

resend that...............could be the primary lead to the ignition coils that splits to #1 and #2 coils with the brown wire returning to ground................

Re: Where does this wire go?

It is not the seat. It originates under the seat and from the way it's shaped ( bent ) it looks like it goes forward up the left side. 4 wires.

You better start selling. My entire bike looks that way.

While I can not locate that connection in all my pictures, my wiring looks no better or worse then that.

Re: Where does this wire go?

I am just guessing, but is that the factory wire for the GPS. I read somewhere that on some models the wire is already installed. Dont jump on me if I am wrong....taking a stab at it.

Just had a look all over the place on my 06 LT (apart for mod's & service) but I can't see a connector like your's, so it might be LT prior to 05/06.

Where did you see a splice? I see two wires going into a connector and then two jumper wires carrying those two wires to two other pins in the same connector? Splice???

Joe - when I first saw it, I thought it looked a leetle like the connector for the sidestand switch. However, ole Toad is at a storage unit, so I can't verify by looking; and I'm not finding anythang in the shop manual. I will be at the storage unit sometime tomorrow, and will check.

Re: Where does this wire go?

The bike runs without it but I can't verify that everything works until I can ride it, which won't be for a while. Here's a pic of where it originates. It's the wire leading down to the left with my thumb on it.

Re: Where does this wire go?

Although the connector for mine is white plastic or nylon, this is in the area where the rider's seat heat connection is located. Have you tried lining it up to the connection at your seat?

Re: Where does this wire go?

Greetings

All this sleuthing work was fantastic! It was better than a few books I've read recently. Can be open up a sub forum where once a week someone sends in a piccie of some component and we can all begin to play "Hunt Down This Bit"

Brilliant stuff indeed!

Really, not to be juvenile, "but you started it".

Like I said you better start looking for a buyer. That is the wiring of a LT. I have been all over mine on the 12,000, and farkel installs, every connection I saw was pulled and dielectric grease used.

I think the "shit" part just makes one take offense. But hey your opinion.

On topic:

Very cool that it was searched down and got resolved.

What a great forum!

You are one to talk about nit picking. I saw nothing major wrong with the connector in the photo and was simply wondering if you saw something I didn't. Obviously, you didn't see anything that I didn't and just wanted to act like you knew something about wiring. You can't even see the crimps inside the connector so how do you know what the quality is?

Take your medication now and try to chill a little.
