Rode this weekend

Here in Rochester MN the temp got up to the upper 30"s. Fired up the LT and went for a ride. Got a few "looks", expecially the snowmobile rider along the roadway.
Sure felt nice to be out riding, even though it was only about 10 miles.
So far, I have ridden every mouth. - Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan - May not be a long ride, but a ride.

Re: Rode this weekend

Me too!. I live in Va. Beach and we hit the 60s yesterday and what a great ride. Acually had a HD come up on me and wanting to play go fast. His mistake. Last I saw him he was but a spot in my rearview mirror. It was on a secluded straight stretch of 2 lane road. I just wish there had been some twisties to show off on. Anyway like you I have been out atleast once or twice a month this winter and it feels great getting her out of the Garage once and awhile during the cold months and riding her. (My LT too.)

I was going to go Saturday also...we were in the low 40's here in Mankato.
I chickened out. Too Cold!
But....I did open the garage door and started the old gal up and sat on her for awhile.

I sooo can't wait for Spring!!

Re: Rode this weekend

Way to go, Jim!! Could not do the same here in Minneapolis - the sharp turn at the bottom of the drive on 2" of ice bothers me somewhat. Have not had the LT out since early Nov. :-(

Re: Rode this weekend

I got out Saturday. It was 72 degrees but the ride was BRUTAL. We had 25 MPH sustained winds with gusts to 40 MPH. There were two times I think my helmet would have blown off without the strap. The Light Truck held the rode fine but I felt sorry for the guy with me on the RT. At one point I stopped to wait for him to catch up and he explained that 50 MPH was all he was willing to risk. It was fun anyway.

Re: Rode this weekend

Around here the weather is terrible. This weekend half of my roof's tiles (don't know the correct name for it..) flew away, trees fell, I saw three cages litteraly being blown away across 3 lanes on my way home Saturday.
Trinity is getting quite a start, being on the street while this has been going on. Two parking spaces to the right of Trinity a Pan European fell during the the worst part of the wind. It turned my stomach.
Better days will come.

Re: Rode this weekend

I was ready to run some errands this afternoon. Temp was right at the borderline between my riding jackets.

SO. I waited 'till sunset so the temps would drop out of the 70s and I'd be comfy in my winter jacket--worked perfectly. It was around 68F when I left.

Re: Rode this weekend

I missed a quick ride on Saturday and thusly missed the every month tag line... I didn't even think about it until reading this thread. I finally washed the December muck off of the RT on Sunday then promptly mucked it up riding through melt water. Anyway, the 2nd wash was an easy one. Best part? It was mid 40's round here. Just getting outside with the bike was grin worthy enough.

Re: Rode this weekend

I was getting a bad case of being around the house to much.Rode Sunday temps in mid 60's.Today the high was only in the 50's,but went for a nice ride around the county.Tomorrow, high only mid 40's or so,and going lower.Saturday and Sunday temps mid to upper 60's with partly cloudy skies.Looks like I'll need to fill the tank and put some more miles on the RT.

Didn't have as much time as I would of liked but left the So CAL desert early Saturda AM with temps in the low 50s. I rode the local mountain for a few hours and returned home. By the time I rode down the mountain it was 78 degrees in the desert. I had to take my jacket liner off and open the jacket vents. Life sure is hard.

Thumbs up Re: Rode this weekend

We took a nice ride inland for a cozy lunch in Ojai, and came back home via PCH with virtually NO traffic (only 3 bikes at the Neptune's Net!!!). The again it was during the Super Bowl, so everyone was in front of the tube (watching porn in AZ I heard in the news ) and we had the road to ourselves.

Re: Rode this weekend

Jim,

Good job. I was thinking about it but had 3 issues. The end of the driveway had about 3 inches of ice and the local streets were still snow and icy. The other issue is the sand. It didn't use to bother be until I totaled my last bike turning from one street to another when I hit the sand.

For those how don't live in the north you need to try and put your bike away for 4 - 6 months and look at it everyday in the garage and dream. And then know you can't ride because of weather, ice and so on.

Someday I will live were it is motorcycle riding season 24-7.

This is one of the reasons why I moved from the Twin Cities to AZ last year....riding all year 'round...
