Need a fuel pump!

As usually when I do some work on my bike I cost myself more money than needed. I broke the plastic pipe connection off my fuel pump. I was trying to remove the bmw clamps when I did it.

Does anyone have a spare fuel pump they want to sell or any suggestions. I don't see how the pump could come apart to replace the top.

I am happy to see that a new pump cost only 300 bucks!

I did a quick search on 'Taurus' and came up with John's post that mentioned it here.

Re: Need a fuel pump!

Pulled it up on RockAuto's website.

This is what it shows. 51 or 81 bucks depending on what warranty you want.

Re: Need a fuel pump!

Has anyone tried the Ford fuel pump? How did you attach it to the housing? Any additional issues?

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Need a fuel pump!

I went NAPA and checked out the fuel pump from a 93 Taurus. It was not even close in size, much smaller. I'm not saying that you could not have rigged it with wire ties somehow. But it would not have been pretty.

If you need a pump, I mite have a extra one. I will know Thursday.

Thanks Mickey.

Re: Need a fuel pump!

Get one of the stock ones offered by the members. Trying to substitute fuel injection pumps is not a good idea. They are sized for the application, and may have too great a volume pumping capacity for the LT. The pressure regulator valve will dump the access back to the tank, but a greater volume pump may cause too much volume through the regulator, and it may not handle the access properly, causing a higher than normal injection pressure.

Besides, I wouldn't trust a Ford product on my auto, never mind my bike!!! We all know what FORD stands for, right? Here are a few:
  • Found On Road Dead
  • Fourth on Race Day
  • F'n Owner's Really Dumb
  • Driver Returns On Foot (Ford backwards)
