Bad news...good news!

Bad new is that I played hookie from work today so I could ride and while riding I punctured my back tire. Good news......all these years I've been carrying a tire plug kit and a 12v air pump and it finally came in handy. Pulled off the road, put the bike on the center stand, rotated the tire till I found the puncture, plugged the tire, pumped up the tire and away I went. So, it was a good day bad day kind of day! For the first year or two I just carried a plug kit. I finally realized ...what good is a plug kit if I can't fill the tire with air. Guess I'm buying a tire now.

Pardon the rant!

Re: Bad news...good news!

Not a "kit" per'se. Just bought a tire plug pkg that included the reamer and plug inserter. Bought it at an auto parts store. The 12v pump is about 5" x 7" x 1.5" thick. It has a long power cord with a cigarette lighter adapter on the end. Handy little unit.

Unfortunately, this is the year when if you plug your rear tire, you have to load a video of you smoking that tire in a burn out video.

I dunno why that tradition was started?

Don't bother with the kits, plugs, installation guns, etc. Just get a set of those sticky strings from your local auto parts store and always carry them on the bike. If you can't fix the puncture(s) with sticky strings, then you're gonna be calling for a tow truck anyway . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Funny! I didn't know what "sticky strings" were so I did a Google search and found them. That's exactly what I used! Worked great!

Re: Bad news...good news!

Just removed my rear wheel to take to my MC Tire guy. This wheel is SO EASY to remove. Not anything like all my other bikes.
