Where to get a fob?

Hi all!

I'm the proud owner of a 2009 BMW K1200LT!
After nearly loosing my key twice now I've read the writing on the wall and I've decided to get a spare key cut and purchase a spare fob (no it didn't come with a spare from the factory!).
Anybody know where I can order a spare fob and what about the pesky job of programing it to unlock my LT?

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Re: Where to get a fob?

Your dealer would be the first place to start

There's more technical info on this forum than on most dealers' techs, the search feature and FAQs are your friends.

I guess you are talking about number 5:

good luck

Too bad. They used to come with two fobs and about four plain keys and two with rubber heads on them. You need the credit card sized "code card" to program the remote any way so if you don't have that you are at the mercy of the dealer.

Re: Where to get a fob?

Steve,

Congrats on the ride.

I bought a spare FOB from Beemerboneyard. They had purchased some dealers inventory and had some brand-spankin-new ones.

The programming descrption should be in your alarm manual. You will need your "top secret code".
