Help needed final drive for Overseas KLTer

Looking for a working or rebuildable 2001+ final drive for one of our group who is living overseas. I have offered to check one out and rebuild if needed and ship it to him, but I don't have a 2001+ unit.

Anyone have a trashed or spare drive they are willing to part with?

(He is also looking at eBay and other sources).

Thanks,

Curtis,
Here is what I have:

1. '03 rear, rebuilt by me just swapping out the bearing. haven't had time to
go back and check it out with your method.

2. '06 rear, off wrecked bike, seems ok,but not really looked at.

3. Late model rear: the one you rebuilt for me. This is the one you said spun the taper bearing slightly.

$400/OBO + shipping

Re: Help needed final drive for Overseas KLTer

Thanks Dan.
I have an ongoing dialogue with Mike in Thailand whose FD is failed in a way that rebuild really isn't cost effective.
I sent him a pm with a link to your post to be sure he sees it.
I have offered to check a drive for him and then ship it to him, which is one of his options. He is also looking at eBay and talking to Chicago BMW. No doubt he'll be trying to find the right combination of time, money, and quality of his replacement drive.
Thanks for making more options available to him.
regards,

Re: Help needed final drive for Overseas KLTer

It gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeeling that people are working together to look for a solution so my comments are just to suggest another alternative. There are 3 companies in the UK that deal in secondhand parts - Motorworks, Motobins and James Sherlock (google them). They may have a suitable drive available and I doubt the shipping would be that much different.

just an idea.

Fed-ex wants $320 to ship a drive to Thailand. That was for 5 day service. Finally sent it by parcel post. Should take 6-10 days. $49.95
