Do I Have a Weep Hole

I have read and looked at a lot on this site on drilling the hole but can I tell if it has already been done first without tearing everything apart.

If you bought new, it is not there. If you bought used you can contact previous owner or the dealer you purchased from.

Re: Do I Have a Weep Hole

Hey Saddleman,

We have GOT to get together. I'll be glad to look at that thing and let you know if it's been done. I am free tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon if you wanna come over. Let me know.

BTW, I've done about 5 or 6 of the Drain-Hole procedures...so if it needs it, we can handle it!

Or you can get a flash light and look up under the left (shifter) side of the bike. On the rear of the transmission you will see the boss that holds the slave cylinder, just forward of center of the swing arm. If you also see a small hole then you have one.

Better Yet go see Jack!!!

Yea john, We live in the same town for crying out loud, but I've been so busy that we haven't gotten together yet! This'll give us a good reason to meet and hang out some.

Re: Do I Have a Weep Hole

I was having some clutch slipping problems so I drilled the hole & then sprayed some brake cleaner degreaser into the hole. I can still slip the clutch if I really bang on it but under normal riding conditions I'm good to go.

Don't underestimate the value of this mod!

I now go in with brake cleaner degreaser and spray as part of my regular maintenance. It may be that the build up of dust in the housing causes slipping. Who knows? I do know that if I take it easy on the clutch I feel like I am safe to ride without replacing the clutch at this point.

Re: Do I Have a Weep Hole

My clutch slipped on me once when I went to pass a car on the way home. I tore it down and it was coming apart already. I did the weep hole and replaced the clutch and slave cylinder and it's okay after 27K miles.....my rebuilt FD just went over 4K...........

I believe you are speaking of a different modification. If one was to spray brake cleaner into the "Clutch Slave Drain Hole", it would certainly CAUSE Slave Failure in short order. You must have a drain hole drilled in the clutch housing/cover. Totally different, but neat to know that it may have helped.

Not yet, but that'll come soon. He has Kevin's instructions and the ability to perform the procedure for sure!

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
