Question I think I found an 2005 LT to buy?

Hi all;

I think I found an 2005 Lt with low milage, but need some direction!!

20,000 miles, but no service records available. Not much info on the bike.

I have a VIN but don't know where to check if all the recalls have been done or if it has been salvaged.

Its in the US so I would be planing to go see the bike once I settle on a price we both can accept.

Any recommendations ( or direction) would be MUCH appreciated!!!

Axle;

I HAVE checked some of the classified ads here, and some don't have service histories ( emailed confirmation with the sellers) so I have checked.

The bike is at a good price, not a "to good to be true" price. I have seem some here close to the same price with the same options ( except this one does not have a comm system, so if I get the bike, this will be the winter project.

I will most likely get the bike inspected by a BMW dealer prior to closing a deal.

Not the first bike I buy, but the first K1200LT ( have a 93 K1100LT that will be "released to the public" next spring!!

If you plan on importing it into Canada you will need what is called a Manufactures Recall letter . I got mine from the original dealer that sold the bike . Beware BMW Canada wanted $500.00 for that information . Mine is also a 2005 & I bought mine in Arizona. The current owner should know what dealer originally sold it .
Good Luck

If you have the VIN you can call BMW corp in the US and they can pull some information for you. I was able to get were the bike was sold. Then I contacted that shop and they pulled the records for me. They wouldn't tell me the owner but told me what had been done to the bike.

Since you have the VIN you can use CARFAX to see if the bike has a salvage title.

You may want to check your VIN number with http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi.
