cruise control going off

I have a buddy who just bought an '07 LT Saturday and on the 800 mile trip home found that his cruise would go off at the slightest "bump" in the road. I'm supposing it's probably a rear brake pedal sensitivity adjustment. Any one had this problem and what did it end up being? And, if it's the rear brake sensitivity, how do you adjust?

Re: cruise control going off

Hi Ron,

I have not had a problem with my cruise in the manner you describe.

I bet you are on the right path with the rear brake pedal. I would check the switch and see if there is a way to adjust it "down". I rarely use the rear pedal (and cruise control for that matter), so I haven't had to mess with it.

Sounds like the most probable, I'm sure someone will chime in with better information.

Mine would do the same thing. It turned out being ill-adjusted throttle cables. After my service tech readjusted them, he took a further step and zip-tied them into place. Never had another issue with the cruise control after that 'fix'.

Re: cruise control going off

My bike has been getting rained on almost daily while parked @ work lately and I have a similar problem.

Have your friend watch the little red light at the switch, mine will blink on & off sometimes and kill the cruise, indicating corroded switch contacts. I can hold slight pressure on it and it will remain lit but when I let go it'll go off again.

After a few days of dry riding it will work fine again. Guess I need to clean or replace the switch.

Go search the Hall of Wisdom for the Cruise Control diagnostic procedure. It will tell you where the problem is.

Re: cruise control going off

I bypassed the throttle micro-switch on the throttle body.
