I finally pulled the trigger on an LT

I traded my 05 R1200ST for an 05 K1200LT. I've been wanting to do this for quite a while and I finally found a bike that is in like new condition. Whoever had this bike first really took great care of it. I've been lurking on this forum for awhile which is where I got the notion that I wanted an LT. There is a big difference in handling characteristics between the two machines. I used to own a GL1500 and also a Valkyrie so it's not like I'm not used to big bikes. Still, more weight and longer wheelbase than the ST require caution until I regain my confidence on bigger bikes. Anyway, I rode some today (96 miles) in 36 - 46 degree temps. I went on Colorado Hwy 34 from Loveland to Estes Park and played on the peak to peak highway for a while and then returned to Loveland. By the end of the ride, I became more comfortable with the handling of my LT. The fairing made the cold temps rather bearable. The heated seat, grips, and vest also helped alot. I'm going to Colorado Springs tomorrow with a GS buddy for lunch. I'm totally excited with this bike. Since bikes don't exist without pictures, here is my first try at attachments. Thanks for reading.

You're correct. It is a Corbin. Also has BMW low windshield, and is wired for a Zumo550 that I still lust after. Maybe in a couple of months. By the way, what's the best way to mount an escort 8500 on this bike?

Welcome aboard. We know you will enjoy the ride as you continue to experience the benefits the LT provides.

You did not ask for any advice but I would say that you should respect the bike's heft on slow speed manuevers. Use only the rear brake pedal when coming to regular stops until you get the feel down pat.

You made a great choice and you are amongst friends here!

Boy. Ya really have yer work cut out fer yer self. All of that riding to do before the snow flies!

Charlie in Vt can help you out fitting chains or a spiker rear tire anf a shi for the front.

Best from cold cold Tucson, in the lower 70s and running HEAT at night!
