110k mile service

Just FYI here, wondering if I'm nutz as usual fixing up the bike (01 LTC) or just getting a new one...

18 hrs labor for the service, goes thru about everything.

Also having the ohlins rebuilt (new at 24k service, never touched until now).

Front brake pads worn, will be replaced.

Front forks rebuilt (one seal blew on me during a high speed sweeper, that was fun!)...

At 92 bucks/hour these days, this ones gonna hurt, especially after just dumping 2700 bucks on the K12S (shocks & air filters), then another 1300 bucks on coils/plugs less than 500 miles after the new shocks (and towing, doh!)...time to play the lotto, yikes!

Re: 110k mile service

I've always done my own..until now. I ride too much, no time to do the work.
50k miles/year, I work all over the country.

I do my oil changes and tire changes at home, almost all the rest keeps the dealer in business

Re: 110k mile service

If it helps, I believe Victory BMW in Chandler charges a "flat" amount for their 24K's - around $1100 or so, I believe. Not that this is that great...but an improvement over -18- hours of shop time.

Incidentally, I don't see what could possibly take 18 hours for an inspection and PM....even with full fluid changes, filter changes, and valves....but that's just me.

If you decide to go it your own, and need any help on the basics, let me know.

Good luck!

Re: 110k mile service

thanks ya'll...

I must clarify...the 18 hrs includes the shock rebuild and also the fork rebuild, sorry about that! Plus parts.

I can believe it. Last time they called me, they were waiting on some shims so the valves must be out a bit.

I wish I had the time to do maint on these things (I like that stuff) but, gotta make the $$ and let someone else make some of my $$ I guess, makes the world go round I suppose!
