We had an aircraft wiring fire years ago; the chemical agent used created years and years of problems due to corrosion.

Replace all the wiring; save yourself some trouble.

What was the cause of the fire? OD's, electrical?

Yes, indeed. Part of my business deals with repairing electronics. A dry chemical extinguisher is a death sentence for most equipment. The repair costs can easily run more than a replacement.
