A first for me - vulture strike

Wife and I went for a 400 mile ride yesterday, and I smacked a vulture of all things. Just came around a sharp curve and laid into the throttle, just as the bird launched off a fence post. Took it right across the windshield and knocked him for a loop or three. Went back to check on him and he was still alive, but one wing pointing in the wrong direction. Picked it up, straightened the wing out, and set it on the side of the road where he wouldn't get hit again. The darned thing let me pet it and just watched, but never lashed out at me. Checked back on the way home and it was gone. I like to think it flew away, not that his buddies ate him. Biggest bird I've ever hit, and no damage to the bike at all. Just a little glad I had the windshield up. Would have hurt on the Harley (no windshield).

Hi, Gilles.

Wouldn't that be KFVulture? Yeah, that *would* be the *other* white meat, eh?

Hope all is well with you.

Dam!
I worry about June bugs at night.

A few quail have played chicken with my LT. They weren't chicken! or quail afterwards.
