K1200LT Antenna/Aerial

I am going to try again, since it's pretty hard stuff to come by: I am looking for a K1200LT antenna/aerial. I just need the mounting bracket and the antenna/aerial itsef.

I am not interested in the wiring and stuff. I want to attach it to the right hand side of the bike. It's only for the looks, so it doesn't have to be functional.

Does anybody have the mounting bracket and/or the antenna/aerial I could buy?

You can use a left side base with a little cutting and shutting. That's what I have done for a comms aerial mount.

Just pussin' through.

That's what I was aiming for in the first place. It's just that a used base and aerial is hard to find.

Re: K1200LT Antenna/Aerial

They come up on E-bay from time to time. I'm waiting for a used GW antenna to fit it to the LT. I hate the fixed antenna, as I cover the bike anytime it sits for more than an hour...and no, I don't want to cut a hole in the cover for the #$%$$ antenna....

I'll ask my dealer what that should cost. As well as the aerial itself. If it's for under 80-ish USD, it's mine. But since we all know BMW prices, it's not likely that 's going to happen...

Re: K1200LT Antenna/Aerial

When I purchased mine back in mid-2005, I beleive it cost me around $125, but then I also got the wiring, etc. as I plan on adding CB Freq as well.

Keep in mind, for some unknown reason, recently, BMW has raised there prices on just about Everything in upwards of 30-45%

I just checked on a set of passenger floorboards which last year cost out at around $450 ish. Now there up to $725+

Perhaps its because bike sales are up?

But I diffently would go with the BMW mount for the additional costs.

I've seem some Pretty Narly looking home made mounts out there, and if you were going to put it on some other bike, thats ok, but on the LT...

One has to ask themselves, Why, why why.

Could it be the weak dollar against the strong Euro. I Euro = $1.48 today

Five years ago it was a par.

Can a folding Goldwing antenna be substituted for the original LT antenna? Would anything need modding.
