Two Questions

I have a 00 Lt. My questions are:
1.Is there supposed to be a level in the overflow jug like in a car?

2.In other shaft drive bikes they talk about greasing the splines. Is this something I need to be doing. I have looked and looked for these two answers.
Thanks

Smile Re: Two Questions

Answer 1: There is a view window for the radiator overflow/fill jug. If you open the left side case and will see in the left top corner a slot for the fluid level.
It's hard to see, but thats where it is.

Answer 2: IMO the driveshaft splines should be greased with moly paste.
Honda makes a moly paste that works well. I use a dab on all my bolts.

Cheers,
Wolf

Re: Two Questions

It's not required to grease the splines on these bikes as regular maintenance.

+1 on what Griff says.

The spline lube was for Pre Paralever final drive systems. I do not know exactly when BMW introduced the Paralever but think it was mid 90's.

Re: Two Questions

Again Echo what Grif sez, but IF you do go in there for other maintenance be sure and lather up! The Paralever just does not generate the in and out movement of the older set ups. And no we don't grease the clutch splines either. ( I could do my R80 in an hour and a half. The LT would take two days.)
