Radio Aerial

Help! My radio aerial has snapped! right at the bottom, where it joins to the metal bayonet fitting. i've been looking in the usual places, ebay! for a new/used one, because i dread to think how much it'll cost me from the main dealer!

Has anyone fitted an after market aerial? if so, is it hard? because looking at the manual, it's a hell of a job to remove the original with cable etc (Top box, seat and tupperware removal!)

Any help would be much appeciated!!!!

Used - Aerial K1200LT | RAB05986</SPAN> 10.00 plus shipping.

But if you are talking about the Bracket, I have a spare one. Just pay the shipping and it's yours.

The bracket is fine, it's just the actual aerial. I'll try motorworks and see if they've still got the aerial.

Many thanks for that

Thank the lord for that, because I've just been to look where I last saw it, and it isn't there. It's been moved to a safer location, but after all the renovations, that safe place might be a little hard to find. I wouldn't throw it away, not that stupid.

Motor Works are nice folks to deal with, they will take back the 2nd caliper I bought from them for the price I paid, less shipping. I'm sure they should sort you out.

Re: Radio Aerial

Had the same problem a few months back and was able to find inexpensive replacements; however, they were for pre 05 models. For some reason BMW change the base of the antenna in 05. Dealers here wanted $135. Ended up going with a hidden antenna from Crutchfiled. It works but not as well a the original antenna did.

Re: Radio Aerial

Doug

Same problem here, i can only find pre-05 aerials! I've been looking at a shorty car aerial, rather than the hidden type, as i was worried about getting reception. Unfortunately, we don't have satellite radio here in the UK at present, so I can't even go down that route!

Thanks for the response

Hey Mike,

I am in dire need of a bracket. If you happen to find it, would you send it to the Nethelands for me? Shipping is paid for ofcourse...

Hey there,

Looks like the hunt for the bracket is back on. Give me a day or two to hunt down all the usual places, and I'll be happy to ship to the Netherlands. This weekend we removed everything from the attic, so I have a huge pile to sort through. I just hope my good lady didn't throw it away.
