Anybody got an Oil Pan?

Just Maybe.......

After an impact with a large rock (road debris), I find myself with a cracked oil pan - and it is dripping at a good rate. The impact put a large dent in the skid plate and pushed the skid plate frame up into the oil pan. This broke off several cooling fins, and pushed another up far enough to crack the pan. Fortunately no other damage to body panels etc.

The new pan is available from Chicago BMW at $71.20, but no stock and probably close to a month wait for them to order then ship. BeemerBoneyard has several available but they are for the pre-2005 models without the hydraulic center stand. The part number is 11 13 7 680 134 and I would be happy to here from anyone who has a used oil pan from a 2005, or later, K1200LT. The post-2005 oil pan has a threaded hole at each corner to take the mounting straps for the center stand, earlier ones do not.

P.S. JB Weld has been suggested as an interim fix, but I would prefer a more permanent fix as it is already pulled apart.

Thanks,

Steve Collier

Re: Anybody got an Oil Pan?

Looking at the parts fisch, they show the same P/N for pre and post 05. I think they use the already existing, threaded, cradle mount holes to suspend the forward skid plate fasteners. The cradle is called out in the manual to support the engine.

Re: Anybody got an Oil Pan?

Thanks, already aware of the same part called for on all K12 and K11 engines. I think the new part number ''80134" is the only available choice now and it will fit the older bikes and simply does not make use of the mounting holes. In other words I think the new part is retro-fittable to all K series "brick" engines but an old pan from a '99 K12RS can not be brought forward to the '05 and subsequent LT's unless you wish to sacrifice the centre stand - but I'll do some checking. Maybe the BeemerBoneyard option will work out.

Re: Anybody got an Oil Pan?

Also there are threaded holes in the older bikes for the attachment of the forward cross piece for the skid plate. I still think they are all the same.
