Red face Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Can any of you fellow riders supply me with a copy of the center stand wiring diagram?

Seems electrical in nature, as the motor will not even make a sound. I found a blown fuse that powered the lites, etc and replaced it. The center stand worked, but now it does not and the fuse is still good.

The center stand dash lite will blink rapidly, and there is also a square box with a tall and short bar that shows up when pushing the button.

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Tim,

I have the wiring diagram but it is on the BMW SLP2 CD and all I can get to you is the diagram without the legend. There are several items that come into play. Side stand switch, center stand limit switch, reverser control unit, brake relay, Fuses F14 and F15. the output is the center stand relay that drive the motor. And of course the push button. If one of the inputs is not correct the stand light will flash rapidly. Not sure what this other box is you described - is it in the LCD display?

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Does the center stand motor or electrical circuit have a fuse, and if so, which one is it ?.

Thanks

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

The circuit for the motor is direct from the battery to the relay and then motor. No fuse.

Fuses F14 and F15 feed the EHCS controller that, in turn, feeds the relay.

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

See the other post. The relay is right behind the battery and not (thank goodness) in the relay box under the tank.

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Tim,

although your problem might be electrical related and John already gave good instructions, here is a strory that you might find helpful in case you decide to overhaul the EHCS unit itself. I think the unit should be cleaned and oil changed at least every four to five years.

I also took a looka at the control unit, but there is very little one can do about that as far as fixing is concerned...

I just rebuilt my centerstand, bench tested it before install and it worked. Once in bike it does not, I can hear relay clicking but no movement. Is the relay the final leg of the circuit?

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Yes it is. Use what ever you tested it on the bench to power it through the connector to see if the motor will run. If it does not run then there may be corrosion on the internal brush ground screw in the motor. Also on the bike there are interlocks, must be in neutral, brakes off, upright (uses an alarm sensor).

Re: Center Stand Wiring Diagram Help??

Sounds like a relay change is in order. BMW gets $18 for it but it looks to be a standard auto relay like they sell for horns or lighting addons. It is located directly behind the battery

I wired the motor direct and got nothing again, checked for power at the motor and had 12 volts when I tried to deploy the stand. I pulled the motor apart and cleaned the ground screw contact point. Reassembled the unit and it works better than new. Thanks for your help.
