where do you get your accessories?

I just got an 05 LT, now Im wanting to add some goodies like a radar detector
2 close calls in 2 days makes me think I should slow down but this bike just loves to fly

I have an xm radio installed but haven't signed up to receive the signal, Im leaning more to an Ipod but haven't looked around much, Im also due for new tires so if anyone has a favorite place to play I would appreciate any info you have, thanks [email protected]

Go to the home page and on the left is an acc. link. Has lots of good sites and ideas there. Also if you go further down the forum you will see sponsors and you can get stuff from them.

I could play with women or with cars, I find cars are cheaper and you can write a book about cars a guy would understand.

Re: where do you get your accessories?

I agree, start with the vendors who help keep the site going. They will probably know the ins and outs of the LT better than most.

You might also try running searches for the different accessories you are thinking about. You'll get hours' worth of reading from list members who have "been there, done that" with any given product. You may find some tricks that will save you a lot of time, money and aggravation.

I was talking to a list member who was trying to connect an iPod to a 2005 LT. We ran a search while on the phone and found the BMW part number for the cable that is required, and we found an online dealer.

Lots of LT riders seem to like the Valentine radar detectors; I think those are only available factory direct. The neat setup is to install one on the BMR shelf, available from Raffy at Just Ride it Accessories. See the vendor forum.

Re: where do you get your accessories?

Dennis,
I use a Solo S2 Cordless on my BMR shelf. There is a photo here: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31521. I have used this unit for 3 years and love it. Two AA batteries last 4 to 5 months with normal use and the thing has saved my ass several times. There is more info on it here:http://www.escortradar.com/solo.htm

On the LT, its mounted on the right side accessory shelf using velcro. Twp pieces cover the bottom and the battery door. It stays put with no problem, and actually takes a bit of a tug to get it off.

In the car I use the windshield mount and a custom made bracket off the visor which also has some velcro. Makes it rock solid and nearly invisible from the outside.

Im ready to look for a cable to hook up a 20gig Ipod, question is will the communications port charge the Ipod? or will I have to occasionally recharge it?

I have a 160 gig IPOD Classic and a Voice II system. I connect through the headphone jack with no power connection. I could connect a separate power cord to a powerlet outlet. My IPOD will run far longer than I can so I recharge off bike.
