Bad radio reception

This is the 2nd antenna now on my 99LT and I have never had good radio reception. Does anyone know of a different antenna perhaps, like a power antenna or something. Im frustrated enough to consider satellite radio, however my 1st experience with XM I had reception problems and then the unit simply quit on me.

Any ideas for better reception? or should just be full time Ipod

Re: Bad radio reception

I had very poor reception with my stock antenna, so to my knowledge and the help I got on this site I figured out that my antenna was grounding out to the antenna base. I would take your antenna apart at the base and be sure nothing is grounding out to the base. I tried and tried to figure mine out and ended up placing a small mount of black electrical tape around the antenna that gets inserted to the base and all my problems were solved.

however there have been many posts on replacing the antenna with a smaller aftermarket, or a hidden amplified antenna. Just do a quick search on the site and you should be able to find the threads.

Not sure about XM but I have Sirius...so far no problems.
Make sure you mount the antenna with a clear view and you should be good to go.
