2002 K1200 Ltc

I am looking to buy a 2002 LTC from a private seller. The bike is in good shape all dealer serviced, 30,000 miles on the OD. brakes and tires have at least 10,000 miles left on them. What would be a fair price?

Re: 2002 K1200 Ltc

IMO, around $8k. OF course the variables are the farkles, or add-ons. Could go + or -, depending on overall condition, mood, etc.

Let me welcome you to the forum. Mostly good folks around here... Look around, if you haven't. Find the Hall of Wisdom and read there about maintenace issues and such. Be sure to understand that the LT does have a couple shortcomings that you have to accept (final drive issues, clutch slave, weak stock headlights, likes to tip over for no apparent reason 8 )). But the pros far outweigh the cons.

The bike looks clean, he has all the service records and he is the original owner. As far as "farkles" the bike is mostly stock with exception to the LED tail light. Is the comm. set considered additional equipment?

Yes, comm & GPS & Bag Liners are the only difference between an 02-LTC and and 02-LTE. The LTE Has-em and the LTC doesn't.

02 model year had the one of the highest Final drive failure rate. FYI.

No KLT has tires with at least 10K left on them.
Occasionally someone posts that they got 20K miles out of their tires, most folks get less than 10K. Don't let tire wear sway you away from the bike.

Don't let final drive issues sway you one way or the other either.

Price?.... I'll let others suggest, I don't pay attention.

But if it is in good shape, it'll be a great ride!

Good luck!
Have fun!

Is the FD the same as on the R's? if so, do those have the same problem? I had a 1996 R1100RSL and never had a problem with any equipment.

Re: 2002 K1200 Ltc

I have an 2002 with 45, 000 miles on it i bought it with 29,000 on it in 2009 for $6,500.00 from National power sports in NH. (they have a web site) It had been dropped a few times but no major scratches. I put a few scratches on it in the first year myself. (your gonna drop it sometime) but i mostly droped it standing still or in a parking lot. i took the trunk off to lighten it up and i like the look better. new tires about every 8000 miles, Love the bike. if i could afford to id buy the 2011

its the seal on the final drive, its not really a big deal, keep the final drive fluid fresh and keep the seal clean

Ha! This '02 has probably already been purchased, it has 78,000 miles on it and is on it's 4th final drive!
