I Took It Apart And Have Two Questions

So now that I've been downsized, I've got some time on my hands while waiting for my next career to show up. Since cash is short, I'm doing my own 12,000 mile service, expect fo the items that require electronic equipment - the dealer will do those.

I changed the air filter this afternoon, an exercise that made me miss my Harley for the first time in four years. The air filter change leads to two questions:

1. After removing the left side body panels I noticed that the ground strap has one end connected to the engine block, and the other end isn't connected to anything. Where does it connect?

2. Re-installing the radio panel is a big pain in the butt because the screw holes on the top of the panel refuse to line up with the holes in the dashboard and the threaded connector below both panels. I've taken it off twice and checked for any possible interference, to no avail. What is the secret to re-installing the radio panel?

Thanks!

Mike

Inside my 60 year old body is a 35 year old brain wondering what the hell happened.

Mike,

#1 The other end goes under the lower rear bolt on the coil cover.

#2. The stingray panel goes under the dash and over the clips. The trick is to use a small screw driver to shift the nut plates around to line up the holes. Also the number one rule - get all screws started before you fully tighen any of them.

Hope that helps.

Re: I Took It Apart And Have Two Questions

Make sure the female clips are centered first. Place the tupperware in the correct location look at the under side of every piece, some have tabs. Look and use a pick or very small screwdriver through every hole to make sure a screw will go in. Place a screw, just starting each. Once ALL are started you can tighted them. Make sure all are tightened or you'll get rattles.
I have found BMW did a good job of centering holes IF you have the part placed correctly. Not always easy.
