Cooling Fan Question

Having my bike apart for some major service, I always think about what may be going bad and if it's not too expensive, I try and replace it. I was checking out the cooling fans and spun them and although they turn freely, they do not spin like they have ball bearings in them. How freely are they supposed to turn? I hope mine are OK because I just checked on the price of them and they are $154 a pop at Chicago BMW!! I don't have a clue why they cost so much for a little fan like that.

Re: Cooling Fan Question

There is some resistance in them. But I wouldn't worry about them unless you have them come one a lot. Mine only come on in 100 degree days and in stop and go traffic. If you have yours come on all the time then I guess I would wait until one goes out. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

You have to grow up to have a mid-life crisis!!!!!

I could play with women or with cars, I find cars are cheaper and you can write a book about cars a guy would understand.

Re: Cooling Fan Question

I certainly won't at those prices unless I absolutely have to.
