Fuel Filter and HIDs
A couple of notes on the fuel filter arrangement (since you don't have the service manual) are:
1. You can easily remove the large round access lid with a common strap wrench.
2. There are arrows on the lid and tank - Make sure they match up on re-assembly
3. Consider replacing the BMW crimp hose clamps with screw type clamps.
The crimp clamps have occasionally NOT been tightened correctly and blown off the gas line. Obiviously not fun. Don't ask me how I know!
Regarding HIDs, I have the hid-online,com low beam conversion. Yes, its great and the high beam looks like a yellow candle. I have mounted PIAA 1100Xs in the cowls for close in cornering help. The high beam conversion to HID works well. Some don't favor it as you can't *Flash* it effectively and it can not be used with a *Headlight flashing modulator* popular here for urban combat.
The attached file shows a good alternative. They are MicroDE, very small, powerful HIDs that can be mounted in th cowl or elsewhere. Very popular with the LD riders.
