Thumbs up Trusting a Fellow BMW Rider

I've been a board member for awhile now and have always found this site to be a great place...

I have a little sideline business selling the headlight protection kits made by Xpel; recently one of the board members who part of the 'Espresso Riders' wanted a kit. At the time I did not have the exact shipping cost, but he wasn't bothered by it and sent me a blank check for me to fill in the amount.

Now if that's not trusting, I don't know what is!! You fellow riders are great.

Have a great riding season.

I totally agree! I have bought and sold to and from members, had offers of help from stangers, have met some in person that I only knew from the board and they were no strangers at all -well, a few are a little strange -
It has been nothing but a pleasure since I joined in 02.

Now while I am thinking about a few recent threads, we have a few fellow riders that have strange, or shall I say misguided political and religious opinions paired with a limited sense of humor. But even they are great people and eventually they will come around...

Not trying to start a new debate, just having fun on a cold Monday morning at work. Cold for Houston that is, about 45.

trusting

I have purchased and sold many thousands of dollars in astronomy equipment on the online site Astromart. Money in some form (check, MO, PayPal) is almost always sent before the item is shipped. I have nothing but very positive experiences.

Because of this, I never gave it a second thought when I sent a check to a fellow LT member to purchase a set of topbox, side bag, and rack bags for my LT and guess what? They arrived a week later and I was completely pleased.

The folks here at BMW LT, like Astromart, have if nothing else has increased my trust in people. All the rest of the benefits - of which there is almost too many to count - makes my cycling experience so much more enjoyable.

Ed Korn and Cycleworks

It's a BMW thing?
For years Ed Korn has been making "BMW" special tools for folks who wrench on old BMWs. Airheads. He now will accept credit cards or paypal, but his time honored trusting approach remains:

"PAYMENT
We will ship on your email or phone order and if you are paying with a check, we expect the check in a reasonable amount of time. You can also pay with VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS or DISCOVER via Google Checkout or PayPal.com. If you don’t specify how you prefer to pay, we’ll assume Google Checkout is acceptable and send you a payment request through that service. "

"....we expect the check in a reasonable amount of time." ?!?

Yup, send him an email: "I need a 5 speed transmission output flange puller." and he puts it in the mail. I've got a bunch of Ed's tools, all of which he sent upon receiving my request, no questions asked. The premise is if you wrench on old BMWs you must be okay. Kinda neat, huh?

Trust is a two way street

I ordered a set of the Xpel covers from Tim last week. Went online to the bank and put in the check. It takes the bank a week to send out a check to an individual (got to get all the float they can!)

On Saturday I received a package. Xpel covers from Tim. And I know he hasn't received any money.

It is great working with people who trust you, and people who you can trust!
