Factory cd player and mp3s

Does the factory single cd player play an mp3 cd? Or is it audio only?

I'm sorry to report, it is audio only.

I believe that it will only play WAV CD types. If you want to play MP3s, you can get an audio input cable for the later models. My cassette head was too old for that so I have installed a Minidisc changer where the CD changer would normally go. It is a bit smaller and has a little more capacity. It helps that I have hundreds of Minidiscs to use in it!

There is an adapter available to use an Ipod with the CD changer handlebar control. Maybe that would be right up your street?

Just pussin' through.

Well, it isn't up my street yet...but hopefully it will be this riding year... Just trying to do advance planning. However, I will most likely be after that adapter. Now to try and think of how to fit an iPod and my phone, both on chargers, within the glovebox. Not much room to put a hole in there for a charging cable (let alone 2)...

You can fit miniature power sockets in there. Otherwise, put a power socket in the top box.

I think there was an upgrade to the cd players. I do not know what year that was, but my 03 will play MP3's I have recorded on to a CD. I had heard that some of the early ones wouldn't play these. I have no proof that they wouldn't. Just working off my piss poor memory

The factory installed CD unit in the oddments box on my 2007 LT (Canadian/european) will not play MP3 cd's. The unit reports CD error when you insert one. The only CD's I have been able to play are standard recorded "music" CD's. All others give CD error when attempted.

You may have different results but I don't think that it is possible.
