Fuel tank removal ?

What should I clamp the fuel lines with before disconnecting the fuel lines?

Also, what is the proper way to remove the connectors (QD connector?) ?

I'm just trying to prevents a large puddle of gas in my garage. Thanks.

hose clamp?

2003

The manual calls for a special BWM hose clamp. Do I really need this or is there something else that all you expert tank removers have used to effectively pinch off the fuel. C clamps? vise grips? hose master 2000?

If you have a 2003, then it most certainly (99.99% positive) that it came with quick disconnects. So all you have to do is separate the quick disconnects and you will get a dribble of gas from each.

Just be careful when you reconnect so you don't pinch (thanks Mark Neblett for the recent post) the O ring. Suggest you replace the O rings.

Garage
The quick disconnect fittings are supposed to shut off fuel flow when they are disconnected. Just keep a rag nearby for any small spillage and you should be fine.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Awesome. I was expecting the fuel to gush when disconnected!

Where do you get the O-rings?

Your dealer or any automotive parts store. Make sure they have Buna-N rating.

Just try not to do like I did. I snaped the male connector in half. A quick trip to the dealer fixed it though. ;-(
