Maximum Stupid

OK group;

Here is one for the record books in the stupid department.

First you need background.
Just moved to Colorado from Louisiana (living the dream) and both motorcycles have to be registered and licensed in CO right!
Of course right!!

The state of Colorado requires a VIN verification form, which may be filled out by any dealer.

The events!

It has been a beautiful and cool day here on the front range so I take all the necessary paper work and ride my "little" RS to the Loveland dealer (about 20 miles north of home). No problem I get the necessary paperwork, order some new PIAA H3 bulbs, check out the new machines, clothing, etc, and return home.

Now it is the LT's turn. So I put the title and registration papers inside a standard business envelope (white) and carefully place it in the BMW tank bag map section. Then enjoy a nice fast ride up I-25 to the dealership. I get off the bike and the white envelope doesn't show in the tank bag map pouch and the snap is NOT snapped!!!

(No!!! What with trying to stay alive in the heavy afternoon traffic on I-25 - I did not see it fly out)

Now, I have no title, no registration, and no insurance papers on the LT.

Does this qualify me for president of the Stupid Club or what?

Nope - not the stupid club.

But an even larger one, called "Shit happens", otherwise called "LIfe".

Enjoy the ride - when things go right, it's easy. Who you are is indicated by how you deal with these pasky, PIA situations.

Just be glad you weren't in a real life storm

Ride well!

Stupid is:
In Canada's national parks you can't walk ten feet without seeing a sign warning you of hungry bears. So I leave a Milky Way Bar in my tank bag. Goodbye tank bag. Fortunately, the bear left my wallet.

Stupid is:
THINKING you locked the car keys in the trunk, taking a sledgehammer to the trunk lid, then finding the keys in your pocket. Done that.

Stupid is:
Forgetting to put down the side stand. Seen it, haven't done it (yet).

I'm not sure your event even qualifies. You had a million things on your mind.

With luck, someone with find your paperwork and turn it over to the authorities who will then charge you with littering!

A couple of years ago when leaving the yearly motorcycle show in Atlanta, I managed to leave my set of car keys with two remotes, house & office keys, spare bike key w/ alarm farb ......... on the real seat of my bike when I was suiting up for the ride home. Somewhere, crushed under the wheels of a simi, I hope, are my set of keys. I now carry a set of keys with a large luminescent tag that says KEYS, compliments of my wife.

Thanks all;

I got a chuckle out of other "stupid" stories!! Actually makes me feel better. Maybe we should do this more often

And yes, I did the route rerun 4 times!! NO envelope!!

This might sound dumb: look under the seat. There is a small gap at the front.

Bob;

No, it isn't dumb to look under the seat. Had the same thought and looked there. We (wife and I) drove the route in the cage, they are gone!! Now starts the application for "lost" title application. That should be a good story, dealing with Louisiana.

Been there... done that. Feeling stupid doesn't quite describe the feeling. Especially after the LT fell into my new car putting a $500.00 dent into it.

Stupid?

Sat thru the windshield on my former '87 Corvette. (Don't ask, almost recovered from the emotional scars...)
