Strange Happenings with Radio & Speedometer

All right you guru's, on the way home tonight as I was stopped in traffic, all of a sudden the radio went EXTREMELY loud and at the same time the rpm and speedometer needles went to the far right. It was for maybe for a second. Any ideas?

Talking Apparently you have.....

those leeettle gremlins that like to virtually rev LTs that are sitting still. And, of course, the volume control tracks to the speed of the bike. So, I guess it works. Just need to get rid of those pesky LT varmint cong.

Hi, Mark -

I don't have the answer, butt have a coupla questions that might help the guru who reads this.

1. What model year LT?
2. Were you deadstopped, as in foot on the ground?
3. Was the clutch lever pulled in, or was the tranny in neutral? Or both?
4. Did you hear the engine over-rev, or just notice the tach & speedo needles swing cw?
5. Had you been in cruise control mode anytime prior in this trip?

The engine speed and radio volume do have a coorelation - increase in engine rpms will result in increased radio volume (if that program feature is enabled in the menu).

Hopefully, somebody will be along to give you help, Mark.

Dick,

1. It is an 05.
2. I was at a dead stop. Standing for about 45 seconds at the time.
3. Clutch was in and in first gear.
4. I don't believe the engine reved. It was the stereo that caught me off guard as it was so loud that I looked down and saw both the spedo and tach swing to the far right.
5. The cruise switch was slid on, but had not used the cruise since starting the bike for the commute home.

Hope this helps.

Mark
