battery problem?

It was 30 degrees this morning and as I was going to work I noticed my ABS lights had started flashing .. I shut the bike down and restarted to let the ABS do the diag.. poof the batt. didnt turn the starter.. I waited a few and restarted the bike and got to work...

This afternoon I started the bike and headed home but the ABS lights are still flashing...

Could if be coinkidink or could the batt cause the diag to fail???

What is a good batt these days??

Looks like the battery is your culprit. The electronics on the LT are very sensitive to voltage drops.

Batteries run from $70 and up. But still cheaper than a true ABS failure.

Exclamation Could be low on brake fluid

I've found that the onset of cold weather brings out marginal levels of brake fluid in the rear reservoir. It easily could be that. It comes and goes with the temperature. Be sure to take a look at the levels in both the front and rear of the reservoir.

I too would check the brake fluid level. I usually see the ABS lights flashing whenever the weather turns cooler. Adding a little brake fluid makes the problem go away. May not fix the problem but is low cost compared to a battery.

I have had issues with not restarting after turning off and right back on. For some reason opening the throttle a little and then cranking seems to work for me.

When the battery is low, the Battery Tender will bring it up to snuff to start in the AM.

Reminds me to listen carefully when starting my bike. A couple of years ago, I had to replace my batt in Dec or Jan. Bout time to replace it again?

Me too! Last month (first day with significantly cooler temps) I got the red wig-wag after the 1st start. I had normal braking, so I rode a bit. Stopped and restarted, problem went away.

Next day, same routine.

Problem went away after service on bike which included flush/refill of brake fluid. Since the volume liquid decreases with decreasing temperatures, it all adds up.
