Intercom ??

Just a quick question for the 2-up intercom users. The one I had craped out this weekend. What do you guys use and why? Looked at BMW's but interested in other products pros and cons vs BMW's. My wife likes to stay in touch for days on the bike, and I enjoy her conversation.

+1 for the Baehr unit.

I installed it in under 15 minutes and it works great. Send a PM to Raffy and he get you a great deal on the unit.

From what I've heard, the BMW unit and Autocom units both work just as well but are more labor intensive to install. The Baehr unit connects through two or three barrel plugs under the rear seat. It really is plug and play.

Good luck!

FYI, over in the flea market section of the BMWMOA they have both a used Baehr and a used Autocom units available.

Autocom- $250- http://www.bmwmoa.org/flea/detail.ph...d=6617&catid=3
Cheaper but more complicated install

Baher- $450- http://www.bmwmoa.org/flea/detail.ph...d=6612&catid=3
More money/easier install

It looks like both units come with 2 headsets.

Baehr is the way to go.

Raffy sells them for $200 under MSRP and will provide all the customer support you need. The quality is excellent.
I have my Sirius radio, GPS, phone, and Escort hooked up to the Baehr with all the cables I go from Raffy. So if you want to go with new equipment I would suggest that route. If you can find a good used Baehr, great too!
I was dissatisfied with my Autocom, but it could be due to the treatment/usage from the PO. The speakers are of inferior quality.

I have not tried the BMW unit so I cannot comment.

Another option is to contact Tony (deputy5211) and check for used gear.

If you have an 06 and the intercom that came with it crapped, should be covered under warranty . . . . ?

That's the Verso XL. Not the LT specific one. Still a good price.

Baehr

+1 for the Baehr and Raffy. I ripped out my VOICE II because of CB compatibility issues and had the Baehr installed in a matter of minutes after the tupperware removal. You can't beat Raffy's service either - a cable was missing from my package and he tracked one down and had me running in just a couple days. The price is worth it when you factor in the lack of your time you waste making it work right...
