Question Steering Damper

Just going over the Maintenance Checklist here today and one of the items was - Check Steering Damper .. which I did.

Found a little oil coming out of the front on it when moving front wheel side to side. No resistance perceived either.

I haven't had any trouble with the steering at least none I knew enough to be concerned about. Am wondering whether it's ncessary to replace or repair the steering damper.

Also wondering what is involved in chaning the damper out for a new one ...... steps of the job kind of instructions. Hoping it's a relatiely simple DIY job if it has to be done.

Thanks in advance guys !
