Something old, something new

I had a few minutes on my hands earlier and was looking at the Co-Pilot shelf from BMR products www.bmrproducts.com to see if I could mount an additional item to the shelf. Specifically, I was looking at figuring out how to mount a camera. I didn't want the camera on the handlebar like I had previously done.

At first I thought about using a RAM universal base and Velcro it to the top of the Valentine 1 (V1) security cover that BMR sells. Then I thought of making permanent by using screws and nuts. realised there was not enough gap between the V1 and the underside of the cover. Hummm...what to do? Looked in my parts bin and found a few RAM items. What worked was a 90 degree angle mount with a 1" ball on one end and a flat mounting surface on the other. I drilled two holes on the left side of the V1 security cover, secured the angle mount with screws and nuts and used a RAM short arm (can also use medium or long arm) and mounted my digital camera using a RAM base with the 1/4-20 thread for cameras.

Attached are a couple of pictures.

Wink A Camera for Raffy

Raffy:

I have a copilot and have moved everything to that location except the Camera. Its located in a tank bag with a remote camera sitting up on the right side copilot. It works great except that with the addtional microphone I dont get the true stereo sound that using the straight camera without a remote would provide.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Hi Steve:

I remember seeing your setup at the first WCR. Nicely done I might add.
