In the short term, some route the wires along the outside of the fuel tank, along one of the tip-over bars.
The better way in the longer term is to route the cables under the tank, in the open space between the air box and the electrical box, and then out alongside the steering head, kept away from the fork tubes.
This location both protects the wires and keeps them out of the away when you or a tech are in doing other work (nothing a tech likes less than having to get through a rat's nest of wires to work on stuff, like fuel filter change).
As to the trigger wire, how do you want these set up? Slaved to the low beam? Operable independent from the low beam? Operable without the ignition on? Only when the ignition is on?
If you want slaved to the low beam, it's pretty common to tap the parking light bulb harness (marginally easier than tapping the low beam wire, as the low beam's connector is a pita to release). Tapping a switched circuit under the seat is an alternative, such as the passenger seat power connector.
