Wiring Question

I want to put my satellite radio on my lt, and place the receiver in the saddle bag next to the cd player.
My question is can I splice into the power going to the cd player without causing problems

Wiring Question

Shouldn't be a problem.

Additional details of which type of receiver may help to generate more responses.

Depends on the radio. Does it use 12V or reduced down to what, 5V maybe?

Shouldn't be a problem...just use the 12V cable that comes with the unit, whichever one that might be. Also, make a note that the power going to the CD changer is HOT all of the time.

Sorry it's took so long to get back {got to work sometime}
The receiver is a XTR 3ck visor. I looked and could not find anything about it needing a voltage reducing plug. I'm hoping to splice into the power wire for the CD player and put another plug or maybe a switch. I don't use CDs much and really like the radio.
Thanks for the help and advise. I am new to boards like this and sometime my fingers works faster than my brain.

?????

Why do you want to put it where it won't be accessible. I personally have to fiddle with my gadgets.. Maybe it's my ADD..I can only listen to one channel for so long...

With the proper mount and cables, you can mount it on the handlebars and it'll be much easier to use. And you can just snap it off and put it away when you're not on the bike...If you're worried about theft.

But you can pick up 12V in the saddlebag if it's wired for a cd changer.

Good Luck

My XM is also in the glove box. I have easy access & it doesn't look like I ran through a junk yard & everthing stuck to the handle bars.
