2004 LT Front Turn Signal

If you have a 2004 LT, can you let me know if your front turn signal is also a running light? My 2003 came from the factory as just a turn signal, but my buddy's 2005 was, from the factory, also a running light. I need to know if the 2004 is like the 2003 or the 2005. Thanks.

There is a kit on the market to make the pre 05's turn signals running lights. I honestly forget who makes them and how much they cost, but I don't think the expense was very much. It is easy to install. I did it myself, and I am very mechanically challenged.

You can buy the kit from Raffy

Tail Light Bulb Sockets - Running Light Conversion
A pair of BMW K1200LT OEM taillight bulb sockets that can be used to convert the front turn signals into running lights also. All you need is to: 1) tap the two into the small (pilot) light in the headlight for power, 2) a small modification of the turn signals' socket openings is needed to fit the taillight sockets in (they are slightly larger than the turn signal sockets), and 3) two 1157 bulbs (dual filament). When the ignition is turned into the On position, the turn signals will be lit as running lights just like the tail lights. There are two per package.
Price: $14.00

That's not the product I have in mind. I was asking about the 04 because I need to provide instructions on connecting another product I'm developing to the turn signals. Where you connect the wires would depend on the year of the bike. So, 05 and newer would connect to the turn signals, 04 and older would connect to the parking light and turn signal. Of couse, if someone did the conversion on an older bike, they would use the 05 and newer instructions.

Hey Larry:

How about some alternating red and blue flashing strobes that you can use with the clear lenses - but have an amber appearance to them when they are turned off?

You could do this with a few super bright LEDs inside each turn signal, and have a seperate switch! cooooool idea, get the traffic moving out the way when filtering.

I have a 2000 LT, and I would actually like to make the rear turn signals into running lights. I did purchase something once that was some sort of an LED conversion that was suppose to do it, but I didn't like the way it was to be installed. Anyone have any ideas?

I just this weekend installed the Riders West kit that converted my saddlebag reflectors into running lights/turn signals. It was a great experience. It was the first mod I have made and it turned out to be very easy. The instructions were step by step and included numerous photos to help. They light up nicely and when you turn on the turn signal they flash alternately with the signal which is an attention getter for other drivers. They are also visible to drivers who two far to the side to see your rear signals. You might want to look at them. I have no connection other than being a very satisfied customer.

That would be cool, huh? That is, until you used it in the presence of the wrong person. My dealer has a coulple BMW police bikes in stock--now those puppies have some cool lighting. Just buy one of those.
