Rear drive oil

I bought some oil at the local shop & they gave me a multi viscosity oil for the rear drive. It is red in color.
I think in the past I'v always had straight 90W and it wasn't red.

Any suggestions or advice??

I know little and nothing about such things.

But this seems to be related.
