Question Pushing hard...

Today I went for a nice long ride after doing my 12k service to visit a dealer about 100 miles away. While riding a long at the speed limit, in Germany, (about 90MPH), I felt like the bike was pushing wind. It seemed like I was running into a hard head wind. But my fiend on his K12LT said he didn't think it was that windy.. I have a 2000, without the brown wire. I've done the 12K, new plugs and all. I've done the canisterectomy. Tires were full. Reset the Motronic. Any idea why it would feel like it was pushing a hard head wind? Windshield was down.

Red face Try this, Craig

Try lowering the rear shock adjuster a bit, 'cause you forgot you tightened it up to make it easier to put the bike on the center stand while doing that famous 12K service! I racked my brain and that's the only thing I can think of.......I've probably been working on this bike too much, 'cause I'm talkin' to my self! givin' myself advice and all.....

Next time try running in 4th gear. 5th is overdrive and if you've got a stiff headwind you'd be low on the powerband at 90 in 5th.

Not sure what windshield you and your friend have on your bikes... Different brands or different heights will make a difference.
Also if it is hot you can change the orientation of the winglets under the mirrors.
The brown wire would only have an effect in hot weather at low speeds, so I don't think it was a factor.
Another thing... Have you worked on your brakes lately? Just wondering if a caliper might be dragging...

I'm running a Cee Bailey's #2-3 all the way down. Brakes are not dragging. Just seemed like it was having a hard time running and I was averaging 39 MPG. I seemed like it was running rich, but I disonnected the battery and did my 2 throttle turns.
