Rear brakes, skreeeeeeach, metal on metal
Recently, I hit my rear brake and heard the horrible skreeeeeeaaaaach, just like metal on metal.
So, I ordered EBC pads which arrived here pretty quickly. While I waited for the new rear breaks to arrive, I just used the front brakes.
Tonight, I figured out how easy it was to pull the rear pads, took me a long time though. When I dropped the first rear pad, I was shocked to see bare metal! I cussed myself out for not checking them when I did the 12K (they were replaced around 4K). When I pulled the second pad down and saw about half the lining still there, I thought I had a REAL problem with only one pad waring!
I turned the first pad over, and, viola! half a pad sitting there.
I was wrong on all counts.
Even thought the skreeeeaaaching sounded like metal on metal it wasn't. And, of course, when I looked at the first pad, I was lookin at the piston, back side, instead of the side with brake padding.
Tomorrow morning, yank panels off to get at the speaker connections again. The rear speakers are distorting, again.
But, after thats fixed, off for a nice ride, in the 50s F and sunshine, to Phoenix for the weekend.
