Hey Bob from southwest Ohio . . . this is Joe for northeast Ohio!
First of all, welcome to the forum. You have found the best motorcycle forum on the Internet. Not only for the LT, but for all things motorcycle
in general. I owned an LT for 4 years, but now I'm on the semi-new K1200GT.
There is a TON of information about your new bike on this forum. Using the search feature will yield days and/or weeks of reading for you.
Do yourself a favor and watch for tech sessions hosted near you this coming year. You can learn a lot, meet some great people, and save yourself some cash getting things installed and/or maintenance items done.
As for the electronics...forget about it! Yes, things can fail. But there aren't a lot of "typical" issues.
A few things you may want to consider immediately, if not sooner.
You need to tether your mirrors ASAP. Installing an HID kit cures the anemic low-beam. Currently there's an $86 group discount deal. I installed one on my GT yesterday, and another on a member's LT today. Checkout my threads in the 'Lighting' subforum. And as for tires on the LT, keep your pressure UP and check them often. Most run 42psi up front, and 48psi in the rear. I actually ran higher than this with very pleasing results. Sounds crazy I know.
Feel free to PM me with ANYthing at all. We're here for ya man.
Now buckle up, and enjoy that new bike. You're in for the ride of your life!!!
(Oh...one more thing. You going to the bike show up here in Cleveland at the end of the month?)
