Sealant for valve cover?

The manual calls for gaskacinch for the valve cover (I’m re-using a good gasket). Can I use hi-heat RTV (black) instead?

Re: Sealant for valve cover?

I would go with Permatex Ultra Grey for that application

I use the high temp black. You only need 5 or 6 small dots of sealant as I recall. You need one at each corner of the half-moons and maybe a dab where the gasket crosses they seam where the front cover attaches. And you want just the smallest dab you can squeeze out. Any more is just wasted and may break off inside the engine.
