Question 99 K12LT; Strange noice when braking

Went riding out of Houston yesterday in the hills north of town. I noticed a strange sound coming from the back end of the K12 whenever braking. The sound only occurs when slowing down from speed using downshifts and braking. Kind of a clunking sound. The brakes feel right and the noice is shortlived and happens when I touch the rear brake pedal.... I've heard the K12's sometimes have rear drive issues, could this be rear drive rather and a brake issue?

The clunking noise is most likely rear brakes and not final drive.
I got a lot of that clunking noise just after installing EBC sintered pads all around
What kind of pads are you using?
I also found that with sintered EBC pads the rear brakes are very loud, and switching back to EBC organic pads took care of the noise.

Check the rear brake rotor for play. You should get a tiny amount of flex since it's floating, but any noticeable play or noise means the rotor needs to be replaced. EBC makes a quality replacement for a decent price.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

The front brakes on my 99 makes some noise once in a while. It usually only does it when it is cold out. I talked to my dealer mechanic who said that is not a problem unless it does it a lot. He said that it is because of the floating disc. They can change it if it gets bad. In my case it is still about the same so I haven't worried about it. It is best for you to check it out to be safe.
