Disassembling the Steering Damper

My steering damper started leaking really bad, so I took it off. I started to take it apart, and am embarrassed to admit, I am stuck. I made an aluminum clamp and unscrewed the rod. I have removed the cir-clips and washers that retain the seals and bushings on both ends. Now what?

I can't get the seals to come out. What is the trick to getting them out?

Regards,
Larry

Larry,

I can't help with the steering damper, but I sure got a chuckle out of the binary joke in your sig.

Perhaps these guys can help. GP Suspension rebuilt my Ohlins and they are better than new. The owner and shop manager showed me a universal steering dampner Ohlins makes that is also adjustable. With very little modification I believe I will go that route when my dampner malfunctions.

Take a look at this and this. Might give you a few clues.

Good Luck!
