CEnter Stand

I have a 2006 k1200lt and recently the center stand stopped working. When the button is depressed, the light comes on the dash a does the normal flash, not fast when on a hill flashing, however nothing happens. Is there a fuse or something that I can check to see if blown or something? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Re: CEnter Stand

Sounds like corrosion on the internal brush grounding screw inside the electric motor. That is the primary reason for no motor running. Worst case is a leak in the gear area that allowed oil to get to the brushes. That will destroy them pretty quick but it is not a typical failure.

Remove the stand and the remove the two screws that hole the electric motor on. Then remove the two screws on the motor cover. Lock the shaft of the motor lightly in a vise or vise grips and slide the cover off. This will keep the armature in the base where the brushes mount. Then look for the grounding screw for one of the brushes and remove it and clean up any corrosion. Look at the bushes for wear as well.

If yours looks like the last picture you just need a new motor and a seal.
